American Crime Story Seasons 1-2 Leaving Netflix in March 2022
Hit Shows Set for Departure from Streaming Giant
"The People v. O.J. Simpson" and "The Assassination of Gianni Versace" to Exit Netflix Library
American Crime Story fans will want to catch up on their favorite seasons soon. The acclaimed anthology series' first two seasons, "The People v. O.J. Simpson" and "The Assassination of Gianni Versace," will both be leaving Netflix on March 31, 2022.
The "People v. O.J. Simpson" season, which originally aired in 2016, tells the true story of the infamous O.J. Simpson murder trial. The season won numerous awards, including nine Primetime Emmy Awards, and stars Cuba Gooding Jr. as O.J. Simpson, Sarah Paulson as Marcia Clark, and Sterling K. Brown as Christopher Darden.
The "Assassination of Gianni Versace" season, which premiered in 2018, follows the investigation into the murder of fashion designer Gianni Versace. The season stars Darren Criss as Versace's killer, Andrew Cunanan, and Penelope Cruz as Donatella Versace.
Once these seasons leave Netflix, they will still be available for purchase on digital platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, and Google Play. Additionally, "The People v. O.J. Simpson" is available on Blu-ray and DVD.
This departure from Netflix is part of the ongoing shift in streaming rights for popular content. As more streaming services launch, competition for content is increasing, leading to exclusive deals and the movement of titles between platforms.
Fans of American Crime Story are advised to watch the first two seasons on Netflix before they expire. While it is possible that the seasons may eventually return to Netflix or become available on other streaming services, it is uncertain when or if this will happen.
